WASHINGTON – Arizona senior Senator Kyrsten Sinema met with former U.S. Representative and Arizona State University’s current Vice President of Governmental Affairs, Congressman Matt Salmon, to discuss ASU’s space program.

“Matt and I share a passion for Arizona and for learning. I am thrilled to continue working with him to ensure ASU’s space program leads the way in space exploration,” said Sinema, ranking member of the Senate Commerce Aviation and Space Subcommittee.

Sinema and Salmon served together in the U.S. House from 2013-2016, where they represented neighboring Congressional districts in Arizona. Salmon now serves as ASU’s Vice President for Government Affairs where he heads the local, state, and federal relations teams.

ASU is ranked the number 1 school in the United States for innovation. The School of Earth and Space Exploration (SESE) is a leader in the sciences. NASA has awarded four of SESE’s students Earth and Space Science Fellowships and SESE is currently participating in 12 NASA missions.
