WASHINGTON – Arizona senior Senator Kyrsten Sinema today met with Arizona tourism leaders and discussed their efforts to continue growing Arizona’s tourism industry. Sinema, a cosponsor of the Brand USA Extension Act, underscored her support for the long-term renewal of Brand USA, which promotes the United States as a premier travel destination.
“Tourism fuels Arizona jobs, and renewing Brand USA represents a critical step in continuing to strengthen Arizona’s economy,” said Sinema, a member of the Senate Commerce Committee.
Sinema recently backed bipartisan legislation that reauthorizes Brand USA for eight years. Brand USA was established by the Travel Promotion Act in 2009 as a public-private partnership to promote the United States as a premier travel destination. Sinema supported the reauthorization of Brand USA in the 113th Congress. Brand USA partners with the Arizona Office of Tourism to promote travel to Arizona.
Arizona’s tourism industry is a significant economic driver for the state. According to the Arizona Office of Tourism, 45.5 million people visited Arizona in 2018 and spent $24.4 billion in the state.
