Sinema Helped Secure Funding for Navajo Nation’s Water Supply Project

Apr 23, 2020

PHOENIX – Arizona senior Senator Kyrsten Sinema helped secure $142,964 from the Bureau of Reclamation for a project to provide clean water to communities in the Navajo Nation.

“The lack of a sufficient water supply and water infrastructure has worsened the spread of coronavirus on the Navajo Nation—limiting the ability of residents to follow CDC guidelines for preventing infection. I will keep working with Tribal leaders to ensure the Nation has access to resources needed to combat this virus, including by strengthening critical infrastructure.”

Sinema sent a letter in January to the Bureau of Reclamation advocating for the Nation’s water supply project. The project will help ensure the Nation has adequate water supply that meets the quality requirements of the Safe Drinking Water Act
