Senator met with Valleywise Health to discuss support for Arizona safety net hospitals and Valleywise Health’s efforts to deliver affordable, quality care for Arizonans

WASHINGTON – Arizona senior Senator Kyrsten Sinema met with Valleywise Health and expressed her continued support for Valleywise Health’s efforts to deliver affordable and quality care for Arizonans and increase federal support for safety net providers.

“Arizonans deserve the highest-quality health care, and I’m laser-focused on ensuring they have good, affordable, and accessible options. That’s why I’m proud to support Valleywise Health and Arizona’s safety net providers and will continue working with them to ensure they have the staffing and resources needed to keep providing quality health care for Arizonans,” said Sinema.

Sinema sat down with Valleywise Health leaders to express her continued support for their efforts in caring for Arizonans and discuss Valleywise Health’s needs to ensure they have a strong workforce that can care for Arizonans.

The Senator also discussed certain federal funding programs specific to safety-net hospitals, including a proposed new federal Essential Hospital Designation that would benefit more Arizona hospitals, similar to the federal designations for rural providers, sole community hospitals, and Critical Access Hospitals. These formal designations will help policymakers direct needed resources and funding to providers caring for Arizona’s most vulnerable communities.

Valleywise Health is the only public teaching health system in the Phoenix area and home to Arizona’s only nationally-verified burn center.
