Sinema, Bipartisan Group of Senators Honor First All-Female Spacewalk

Dec 11, 2019

WASHINGTON – Arizona senior Senator Kyrsten Sinema cosponsored a bipartisan resolution that passed the Senate today celebrating the first all-female spacewalk by astronauts Jessica Meir and Christina Koch on October 18th.

“Jessica Meir and Christina Koch’s historic spacewalk inspires women and girls across Arizona to pursue careers in STEM,” said Sinema, ranking member of the Senate Space and Aviation Subcommittee.

Sinema is a champion of education initiatives at NASA. In November, Sinema held a hearing to highlight the importance of NASA partnerships with Arizona universities. During the hearing, Sinema underscored the critical need to build a strong Science, Technology, Education, and Math (STEM) education pipeline to continue expanding America’s leadership in space and national security.
