Sinema-Backed Bipartisan Bill Protects Arizonans Against Illegal Robocalls

Mar 29, 2019

WASHINGTON – Arizona senior Senator Kyrsten Sinema joined a bipartisan group in supporting the TRACED Act—legislation to crack down on illegal robocalls and hold perpetrators of such robocalls accountable.

“We’re working to protect Arizonans from the rising number of illegal robocalls. Our bipartisan legislation holds robocallers accountable and protects hardworking Arizonans from their scams and harassment,” said Sinema.

As one report estimated, 42 percent of all calls will be spam calls by early 2019, a 12 percent increase from last year. The TRACED Act gives regulators more time to find scammers, increases penalties for those who are caught, promotes call authentication and blocking adoption, and brings relevant federal agencies and state attorneys general together to address impediments to criminal prosecution of robocallers who intentionally flout laws.
